Mutt Monday!

My Baby....

And her bottle....
This nifty little toy holds treats in each end. When it's full, Zoey is usually laying somewhere, holding it like this, and sucking on it, just like a bottle. Slurping sounds and drool puddle included.

As always... don't forget to head on over to Two Dogs, A Girl, and a Husbands Grace to visit the founder of Mutt Monday, and add your link to her Mr. Linky if you participated too!

Changes... REVEALED!

So here it is... the big reveal!

Sorta.

Not everything is exactly "done" per say. Ed is on shift today and wasn't able to do all the finishing touches, but the big stuff is done.

Before...

After...

And.... the pile of surround sound stuff that still needs to be hooked up

This weekend our new 52"LCD was delivered! We went on a massive hunt for a stand, and finally set most of it up last night. The picture on this tv is AMAZING! Although, I have to say, within 10 minutes of watching it we decided that we would have to start learning the HD channels. HDtv just looks SO much better than regular tv!

Zoey was not a fan of this new addition. She doesn't usually spend much time in her crate when we are home, but she made an exception while we were setting the tv up.
We are pretty sure that if she was of age to vote, she would NOT have voted for Obama. She's not really a fan of anything black, and she really hates change. This isn't the first time she has reacted this way to new black objects. She actually howled at the smoker, barked at the camaro, and cowers at the covers for the grill and smoker. I don't get it.

Even though the TV has been sitting in our living room since Friday afternoon, we had to wait until last night to set it up because the boyfriend was busy setting up something else!

Before...

After!

That's the boyfriend's great Craigslist find! A hot tub!

With lots of spiffy jets... (that side panel isn't missing, it's just off for wiring purposes)

And pop up speakers and a radio!!!!!

I can't wait to get it all set up and running!!! I cleaned it out really good today, so the boy just needs to finish all the wiring, and it's ready to get filled up!

White People Cuban Food

I am blogging this as an "after-thought" so the only picture I have is of the leftovers I ate tonight. It doesn't look as yummy as it did on Friday, (before it was all slopped together into one container for storage), but it still looked okay, and it sure did taste good!!!

Being that we were going to be really busy with our "changes" this weekend, it was for sure a Crock Pot night! I put this together on a whim, and it came out awesome!
  • 2 pork chops
  • 1/2 bottle of Mojo marinade
  • 1/2 onion
  • 1 full tsp of chopped garlic
  • Splash of lime juice
  • pepper (to taste)
  • garlic salt w/ parsley (to taste)
  • and then I threw in some spices from my rack. I don't remember what they were, I didn't put in much, and you couldn't distinctly taste them so I don't think it mattered, lol.
I put all of this in the crock pot, and let it cook on low for about 4 hours or so. You can tell when it's done because it just falls apart when you stir it, and boys that walk in the front door comment that dinner smells SOOOOO good they can't wait to eat it :)

I cooked up some brown rice (just because we prefer brown for "healthier eating"), and heated up some "frijoles negros" (black beans) in a pot with a splash of mojo, 1/2 tsp chopped garlic, and a few dashes of garlic salt. Goya makes some awesome fried plantains that you can find in the ethnic section of the freezer section in the grocery store.

All you do is unwrap them and pop them in the microwave for 3 minutes, and it's good to go!

You can serve all of these things in seperate little piles like I did on Friday night, or slop the beans, rice, and pork together in one pile like I did when I put it away for leftovers. I prefer to put it all together on my fork when I eat it anyway, so why not!

It's certainly not like the authentic cuban food that you can get at restaurants down here in South Florida, but it sure was pretty close, and definitely close enough for us "white people"!! (not to mention SUPER easy!!!!!)

Changes....

There are going to be some big changes going on in this house this weekend!!!

This view will be changing soon....

And this one has already begun it's transformation

Part of our ugly wall is now missing :)

Can anyone guess what might be going on around here this weekend?

(mom, you aren't allowed to answer this!)

Farewell crazy mangoes...

My 10 day break just FLEW by! I knew it would, but it's still annoying! I'm not all that disappointed though. I got to do almost everything I wanted. I didn't have as many lazy/boring days to get little non-important things done as I thought I would, but that's okay too.

I let my nails grow out, and painted them a nice BRIGHT color.

Mangoes Loco to be exact!

I spent a day with my bestest friend from high school, and spent that evening with another special friend from high school. We went to see Time Travelers Wife, ate some pizza, and stood around in the parking lot reminiscing about the good ol' days for a few hours!

And then... thankfully... the storms that were heading towards Florida decided to stay far far away, and we took a last minute trip to the keys! So I packed up my shorts, tank tops, flip flops, and bikini's... and the boyfriend took me and my Crazy Mangoes down to paradise for 4 days :)

I love the keys, and our lazy days on the boat out in the sun!

I made it back in time for Jess's bridal shower on Sunday, and on Monday it was time to say goodbye to my Crazy Mangoes, and get back to the books! School started off in full force and we had our first test today. (In case you care, I got an 87) Tomorrow I have my first day of clinicals, so I was able to slack a bit and relax tonight since I don't have anything to prepare for.... Hopefully I have some time to get a little bit ahead of the game this weekend so I can spend some more time relaxing next week, but I doubt it. We have LOTS going on this weekend, and I have 2 tests next week, back to back! I'll try my hardest though, stick with me!

OH! And I almost forgot!!!! Happy 100th Post to ME!

Free Pizza!

I know I've been a bad blogger, and I owe you all lots of updates... Right now I'm busy studying for my first test of Term 3, so it will have to wait. However, I have some news today that CANNOT wait.

There will be no cooking, and no dirty dishes for me tonight! All because of this baby!

Yup, that's right. Because of my boyfriends "other girlfriend", we are eating pizza for free tonight! Papa John's is offering one large, one topping pizza, for all Camaro owners. There's a pretty cool reason why too... Click here to read the story behind it.

Are any of you Camaro owners that will be enjoying free pizza tonight? Or maybe some of you are the "other girlfriend" as well.... lol

Mutt Monday!

Doesn't this face have GUILTY written all over it?

But she's just oh so cute!

I always give credit to Jordan, at Two Dogs, A Girl, and a Husbands Grace who is the founder of Mutt Monday, and I would typically tell you make sure you visit her page, and add your link to her Mr. Linky if you participated too.... BUT.... Jordan has been pre-occupied for a few weeks now and hasn't been posting Mutt Monday :( So sad... Head on over anyway and check out her page. While you are there, make sure you leave a note telling her how much you miss her posts, and maybe she'll come back soon!

A whole TEN. DAYS. OFF!

Yes, that's right... I have successfully completed Term 2 (with a B!!!!!) and I now have TEN whole days off from school! Yesterday was my first full day off, and I spent it doing productive things I have been meaning to get done, and then spent some time with family (which was also much needed). But now... what to do with the next 9 days? I'm not exactly sure of what all I will be doing, but here are some things I for sure will/will NOT be doing!

  • I will NOT be filing my nails down on a regular basis so that they don't pass my fingertips
  • I WILL keep polish on those nails, not just the colors you can see through
  • I will NOT wear all white sneakers every day
  • I will NOT wake up every day at 6:45 (really more like 7....but I won't do that either)
  • I WILL spend time in/by my pool
  • I WILL play with my puppy dog
  • I WILL spend at least one day with my friends
  • I WILL get some projects finished (and share them on my blog!)
  • I WILL read a book, just for fun
  • I WILL get the homework done that my teacher assigned (because she's a butt) so that I'm not behind when I start Term 3. (I'm not excited about this, but it needs to be done)
Anyone else got ideas for things I should do while I'm off? It's going to fly by soooo fast, I just know it! :(

Ticked Off Thursday

I can't stand it when people who can't drive try to squeeze their cars into spaces they shouldn't, and leave other peoples car's looking like this!

I'm pretty sure the car that was parked next to me when I came out, is NOT the car that did this. However, I couldn't check to clarify, because they parked too close too. So close in fact that I couldn't even see this mark on my door, and didn't even notice it until I got to my next destination. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

Now... I know I don't drive the newest, nicest, most expensive car out there, but I worked hard for that car and it would be nice if people had a little respect for other people's posessions. Now I'm not askin' for a pity party here or anything, and don't get me wrong, I am grateful for everything I have ever had... but I drove a 1990 Dodge Caravan with no A/C and no front bumper with peeling paint throughout high school. It wasn't mine, I was just allowed to drive it to school and stuff. Then my aunt loaned me a 90 something Ford F-150 long bed for a while. (that pretty much wreaked of gasoline for some reason) But..The first car that was ever MINE was 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier that my mom bought me a few years ago. (Thanks Mommy!) Unfortunately, I wrecked it a few months later. I then dove right into this 2002 Honda Accord, with some help from my insurance money from the Cavalier, and my mom, I put a nice down payment on it, and financed the rest. I have worked hard to keep it maintained, and I put as much money as I possibly could towards my payments so that I was able to pay it off before I left work for nursing school. It's MINE. I own it. I appreciate it. I worked hard for it. I try to keep it in good condition. And I DO NOT appreciate this big ugly scratch/paint/whatever the heck you wanna call it down my driver's side door. GRRRRRR!

Mmmmm COFFEE!!!!!

Has anyone else tried Mc Donald's Sugar Free French Vanilla Iced Coffee??? It's pretty darn amazing. The boyfriend and I are slightly addicted to coffee. I drink it almost every morning, and I crave it on a regular basis. I am, however, NOT a Starbucks girl. I prefer Dunkin'. BUT.... I have to say... McDonalds's is giving Dunkin' a run for it's money with the new McCafe line. Especially with the Sugar Free French Vanilla. YUM!

Mutt Monday!

A few weeks ago when I was a busy little bee, running back and forth from here to the Keys and such, Zoey went to stay at Grammy Angie Camp for a full week!
Here is a little recap of her adventures.

She spent some time on Uncle Derek's lap

Got a little spoiled by being HAND FED by Grammy Angie

Did a little more of that "lap dog" stuff that she isn't supposed to do

Got a little crazy with Cosmo

And took a ride on Grandpa Steve's shoulders

She definitely had a great time, and got a little spoiled. It's no longer safe to eat cheese or pretzels near Miss Zoey. But...That's what grandparents are for, right?

As always... don't forget to head on over to Two Dogs, A Girl, and a Husbands Grace to visit the founder of Mutt Monday, and add your link to her Mr. Linky if you participated too!

The Brighter Side..

It has been a sad week. Grandma's services were this weekend, and everyone was in less than high spirits. We all know that she is in a better place now; she is pain free, and she can be with Grandpa again, but that doesn't make it a happy time. Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers during this time. Please continue to pray for the family as we all cope with her loss in our own way.

On the brighter side.... I received the Tervis Tumbler I won from Hayley at Deals, Steals, and Heels on Friday! It was nice to have sometime to smile about! In addition to my Tumbler (which is so super cute), she also sent a lid and straw for it, some super adorable coasters she handmade, 2 packs of note cards, and a journal. Love it all! Thanks for brightening up my day Hayley!

My Tumbler

And all my other loot :)

Saturday Ed and I spent some time together and relaxed. We really and truly don't do it often enough, and I really enjoyed it. We went swimming with our puppy dog (who is oh so cute and adorable in her little life vest).

Ok, so I happen to think the boyfriend is kindda cute too (but don't tell him!)

Ed is trying to teach her to be a diving dog, so he is working on getting her to put her head under water to grab her toys...

Ed demonstrating a rescue technique, lol.

And then we headed off to see G.I. Joe. It was alright.... A little long. I got to look at Channing Tatum, and he got to look at Sienna Miller, so all was good. lol.. We had some yummy dinner at the Cheesecake Factory (and of course some yummy Kahlua Cocoa Chocolate Cheesecake with a Cappuccino). And then we played some car racing game on his new Xbox 360 where I crashed a lot, and he laughed a lot, but a good time was had by both :)

Today we are "getting things done". I have to study for my last test of the semester, and do some housework. You know, un-wife housewife stuff... and he is off to his parents house to do some work on his boat so we can try and get some more use out of it before summer is over!!!! Zoey keeps askin' when she will get to use her life vest out on water instead of the pool!!!

Wondering where I have been?

I know... I've been slackin' on bloggin'... I promise I have good excuses though!

Wow... my last blog was on July 20th!!!! Whoops.... Anyway. Things have been mucho crazy around here. School is wrapping up for the semester, and I have been trying really hard to stay on top of things and keep my grades up. Which I am in succeeding in... I got another A last week ;-). No complaints here!!!!!! The other reason I have been trying to keep on top of my school work was so that I could afford to play hooky for 2 1/2 days. Yup, that's right, I played hooky.

Last Saturday I went to a bridal shower for my friend Danielle, then rushed home to change and pack and drove to the keys for some of this...

I skipped clinicals on Monday for some more of this....

(I got the biggest catch of the day of course)

And then drove home Monday night to be back in class on Tuesday. (Leaving the boyfriend behind with my godparents for some more of that...) Then I went to class and studied uber hard for 2 days, took a test on Thursday (my A) and signed myself out right after to drive back down for some of this.... Thank goodness it's only a 2 hr drive!!!

We go EVERY year, I couldn't resist!

I came back home on Saturday after some more of that fishing stuff, to rush off (in every sense of the word) to a Bachelorette party for my friend Jess! Partied hard, went to bed at 5 am, spent Sunday cleaning, laundrying, cooking, spending time with the boyfriend and the puppy dog! The puppy dog who I missed so dearly that we had picked up from a full fun filled week at Grammy Angie Camp! I planned on doing some Mutt Monday yesterday about that, but got tied up with that studying junk again :( No worries, there is always next week!
Grammy Angie took LOTS of pictures!

So anyway, that's why I have been MIA lately. I apologize.

On a sadder note... I know some of you have been following me for a while and following Ed's Grandma's story. So, I wanted to share with you that we got the sad news today of her passing. Please say a prayer for the family as they truly need your thoughts and comfort at this time. She will be missed greatly.

This is Grandma meeting Zoey for the first time last year on Christmas.
