It's Grocery Time!

Ed's birthday is this Friday, and he's not really looking forward to it. He's gonna be the big 2-5! A whole QUARTER of a CENTURY old! YIKES! lol... Anyway, my job as his "un-wife" is of course to be supportive and help him through this traumatic transition into adulthood by keeping him happy. And how do you keep a man happy!?!?!?!?!? By feeding him of course! lol...

I'm off to the grocery store to acquire the many ingredients needed to make the many things that he especially enjoys. I hope spacing them out throughout the week might make him smile a little and forget about that dreaded day. hahaha.

So what am I making you ask?

Hamburger Corn Casserole, Guacamole,Cheesecake Brownies, and.....Key Lime Pie!!!

I'll be sure to post some pictures and recipes later, but right now it's time to shop!!!!!

Mutt Monday!

My poor Zoey monster had a brain fart the other day. She forgot that she was almost 40 pounds and not allowed to be on the furniture, and she really and truly thought she was a lap dog!

She's so silly! Luckily her daddy just laughed and took a picture instead of yelling at her!

As always... don't forget to head on over to Two Dogs, A Girl, and a Husbands Grace to visit the founder of Mutt Monday, and add your link to her Mr. Linky if you participated too!
(She has the cutest little video up this week of her doggies receiving the treats I sent them!!!)

Stupid People Sunday

All I am going to say is - If you can't add single digit numbers without using your fingers, you should not teach math. Especially to nursing students in reference to calculating DRUGS!

The end.

Summer Swap Goodies

I had so much fun participating in Sweet Tea Diaries summer swap. As I told you all before, I had the most awesome swap partner, Jordan... and I can finally reveal what I sent to her!

Here are all the goodies wrapped up.... (I have to admit that I had a lot of fun wrapping all this stuff up!)
Then I stuffed it all inside a great bag my mom made especially for Jordan. (Isn't it cute? My mom is so talented! I want her to make me one too!!!!)

And... check out Jordan's blog for all the details about what was INSIDE. ;-)

Here is the great Guac recipe I sent her. It's the only thing I make that Ed specifically asks for on a regular basis. He then proceeds to eat it all in one sitting.
Hope you enjoy it too! It's soooo yummy.
(p.s. I forgot to mention - make sure that the avocado's are the big "normal" ones, and not those wierd small ones they seem to have in stores these days. I'm sure they would work, but since they are smaller, you will probably need more than 2. I've never made it with those. If you do, let me know what you think!)

I still laugh about all the things Jordan and I have in common... We both thought of, and included, each other's doggies, and we both bought each other our favorite lip products! So wierd!

Thank you again Angela for hosting this swap, Mom for helping me have some cool stuff to send, and Jordan for sending me some cool stuff too!!!!!

Another Giveaway!

Check out Chic & Pink's Giveaway in honor of her 200th post!

It's more great summertime stuff... and you guys know how much I simply adore summertime stuff!!!!

Bad Things Come in Threes....

While I was visiting Ed's grandma in the hospital this afternoon, she told me that Farrah Fawcett passed away today. I had heard this information earlier, and I think it's just terrible news. Her comment prompted a conversation about how bad things come in threes. I mentioned that Ed McMahon passed away earlier this week, and she said "Who will be next?" At the same time, we both said, "Bad things come in threes". I can't explain to you why, but I completely agree with this theory. I can't even come up with a specific example at the current moment, but it always seems to be true. As I was on my way home from the hospital, I heard on the radio that Michael Jackson had been rushed to the hospital. By the time I made it home, I randomly received 2 text messages that he had died. There's the third, grandma....

RIP Ed, Farrah, and Michael. Each of you will always be a part of my childhood memories in some way. As my friend Haley said about it "Some people are so infamous, you kind of feel like they are going to live forever." Unfortunately they do not... and it's very sad.

It's like Christmas! In June!

On my way home from school today, I was checking my crackberry and was excited to see that I had an email from my swap partner, Jordan. Not only was she checking in to say hi and see how things were going (because she's cool like that) but she was also writing to tell me that she had been checking the tracking number on my package, and it should be at my house! Yay! So much excitement! I suddenly became very perturbed at the slow as molasses truck in front of me. They were holding me back from my swap package dangit! sheesh! When I finally made it home, I was very pleased to see that our awesome FedEx guy had taken the time to bag up my box before setting it on the porch, therefore saving it from today's torrential downpours! (The storms were so bad here today that the cover flew off of the Camaro! and I just had the pause from writing this, this very minute, to go save it again! This time it was about to fly off and possibly down the street!) Anyway, as soon as I possibly could, I opened my package :)

Without further rambling... here are the goods!

Packaged so cute! In PINK! :)
The opened product.... Captain (my own little bottle that I will be hiding from the mister), Coke, cute tumblers to put it in!, Mini cookies (aka study snacks that have ALREADY been hidden from the mister), Starbursts and hot tamales (add those to the stash as well...), an AWESOME smelling candle, some way cool Chapstick that I have never seen before but am already in love with (Jordan, I may be placing orders to TX for this. How did you know that I never the leave the house without Chapstick!!?!?!?!?!), and the cutest little pink bag to put a wet bathing suit in after beachin' or boatin'. It's got a liner in it to keep it from soaking through. (so much more attractive to walk around with than a grocery bag, lol)
And of course, being the founder of Mutt Monday and a dog lover and all... she included something for my Zoey monster. I let her check that one out for herself, it was so cute!
As soon as she realized what it was, she took off with it, and I had to hunt her down to take a picture. She hasn't let go since.....

Jordan should get her swap package on Thursday, so I can't reveal yet what I sent her... BUT all I can say is that I couldn't help but chuckle when I opened one of her gifts. Just one more thing we have in common. ;-)

Thank you Jordan! I love it all!!!!
Oh, and p.s. everything was intact, and there was no concealer to be found....

I'd also like to thank Angela at Sweet Tea Diaries for hosting this awesome swap!

To top off my little Christmas in June party, I went to the mailbox and found a thank you card from my Aunt for all my help during Paige's wedding, and a few prints of some great shots that were taken. This is one of my favorites, and I was so happy to see it in there.... Thanks Aunt Lisa!

My Grandma Lucy and I at the Rehearsal.
Isn't my dress cute? My mom made it! Check out her blogger post about it...

Mutt Monday!

Oh how I love the many ways my silly puppy sleeps. It's almost impossible to walk past her and not smile or chuckle at the crazy positions she comes up with. This week for Mutt Monday, I have put together a collection for you, so you can have a little chuckle or crack a little smile too!

She always looks like she is trying SOOOO hard.
A headrest?
Stiff as a board...
Hey look! Our guest is back! So they both kindda woke up when I snapped this..... but they WERE sleeping.
And of course... here she is showing off her latest talent. Sleeping while sitting up!

Even though I have seen it a million times, it still makes me smile. How about you?

As always.... don't forget to check out Two Dog's, a Girl, and a Husband's Grace (the original creator of Mutt Monday) to see what Gidget and Riley are up this week, and enter your info in Mr. Linky if you participated!

Critter Update...

Last night I found the remnants of an eaten bird. Ew. Getting a closer look at it today, I realized that everything is gone except for some feathers, feet, and an intact wing. So gross. I wonder what did it? I wish I could tell them to clean up their mess!

Critters!

Being that we live so far out west and near the Everglades, it's of no surprise to me that we have some interesting visitors in our yard from time to time. We have lots and lots of birds (Blue Jays, Grackles, Mocking Birds, etc...), Hummingbirds (aka Florida mosquitoes), tree frogs in the pool, lizards of all sorts (including big ol' iguanas), and things that that. None of those are really unusual to find in South Florida. But I have started compiling a mental list of all the really cool things that pop up too and I thought I would share it with you.... I feel like I need to carry a camera with me every time I walk outside!
*I haven't taken these pictures, but I'm including them so you can see what I'm talkin' about*

We have been visited frequently by Cardinals lately. They are so pretty!

And Orioles! I think I have only ever seen one in South Florida before, and I've lived here my whole life!

Don't forget the grey racer I saw not that long ago.

(I actually took this picture.)

We get Ibis's after the rain.... (not that unusual, but still really cool)

Everyone remember's Zoey's encounter with a turtle, right?

(I took this one too.)

The other night I was letting the dogs out, and there was a ground owl on the fence

When Ed and I take walks at night, we almost always see little bats flying around

We have these wierd bugs called click beetles. The spots in the picture actually glow green at night, making them look like lightening bugs. It's so wierd! And when you flip them on their backs, they click and flip back over. Strangest, freakiest, little critters ever! lol

And my inspiration for this post... as I was walking out back with the dogs not even an hour ago, a possum peeked his little head around the corner from our neighbors backyard and then walked away when he saw me with the dogs. It was almost cute. Except I think they are the ugliest rodent ever...

Makes you wanna come live out near the everglades, huh?
No alligators yet... but I'm not letting my guard down!

It's Fabulous Friday!

This is my first time participating in Fabulous Friday, but hopefully not my last!

Well, That's Just Fabulous hosts "Fabulous Friday" every week. Each week has a new theme, and this week's theme is Fabulous Photos! I love taking pictures and so this is right down my alley! I hope you enjoy! and participate too!

This photo of Jess, Cilla, and I was taken quite a few years ago at the Chili Cookoff. I haven't been in at least 3 years, so it's definitely older than that!

My man in uniform and his sister :) This picture is great and couldn't do a better job expressing their personalities.

I love concerts! This is Me, our friend Chad, Ed, and his brother Mikey pre-gaming in the limo on the way to see Breaking Benjamin, Three Days Grace, and Seether. (this was before we realized we had forgotten the tickets and had to go back home to get them... and refill the cooler of course!)

My mom and my godmother sippin on some wine celebrating my 21st birthday with me a few years ago.
While they were doing that... Kimmy and I were sippin' on my GIANT Margarita!

I'm just pretty much in love with this picture. I have it framed and placed in a very viewable spot in my house, and I never get tired of looking at it. I think I've shared it before, and I'll probably share it again. It's us, doing one of the things we love the most, having an awesome time together on a Sunday afternoon in South Florida. :)

Oh my gosh, I had the hardest time picking which pictures to post! I have so many FABULOUS photos I would love to share!

If you enjoy looking at mine (or even if you don't) head on over to her blog where she has a Mr. Linky set up to view other particpant's pages as well!

A Little Love Giveaway!

LOVE THIS!!!!!

Jess at Living on Sweet Tea is hosting another giveaway! Isn't it awesome? I'm really only telling you about it to get another entry, hahaha.... I wanna win! I love heart jewelry! I used to have a whole set (well, I stilll have it...) but I stopped wearing it because it was from an ex-boyfriend. He bought me a piece for every anniversary. I don't like to wear it every day like I used to because of the meaning behind it. I can't seem to get over it, and Ed knows about it. I keep trying to hint to him to buy me new stuff so I can wear things with meaning from him, but he doesn't seem to get it.... lol. SILLY BOYS!

So remember, head on over to her blog and comment that you would like Amy at the Un-wife Housewife Life to win :)

A Little Behind..

I'm a little behind on accepting some blog awards!!!! I was going to wait until my blog was all pretty again so that I could display them nicely, but since I had a test today, and a test tomorrow, and my nose has been/is burried in books, I just don't have the time to do so. A short little acceptance, and a scrambled up sidebar will have to do for now...

1. First off... my friend Jess at Living on Sweet Tea and Project: 10k Wedding, gave me the Sexy Blogger award many months ago, when I had just started blogging and didn't have very many blogger friends. At the time, I didn't really do anything with it. I would like to apologize to Jess for not giving it any recognition at the time, and thank her again for thinking of me! I have also
added it to my sidebar so that everyone will know that Jess thinks I'm a sexy blogger! Woo hoo!

2. This past Monday, Jess (see above) awarded me the "One Lovely Blog" award! This time I'm not going to take months to recognize it, just days, lol.... Jess is a friend in real life, and a friend in the blog world as well... I love checking out her "lovely blogs" on a daily basis. I love staying up to date on all her wedding planning adventures at Project: 10k Wedding , and you just never know what will pop up on Living on Sweet Tea! It might be a great giveaway, a recipe, an etsy find, or something completely random. That's what makes it lovely though!

3. And last, but certainly not least.... My new blog friend Jordan over at Two Dogs, a Girl, and Husband's Grace awarded me the Friend's Award yesterday! I met Jordan through Sweet Tea Diaries Summertime Swap. She started off as just my swap partner, but after exchanging a few emails to get to know each other before shopping for our swap, we've learned that we have tons and tons in common, and she is definitely more that just a swap partner, she is a great blog friend! We have decided that it was blog destiny or something that brought us together :)

"This award is bestowed on to blogs that are exceedingly charming. These kind bloggers aim to find and be friends. They are not interested in self-aggrandizement. Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut, even more friendships are propagated. Please give more attention to these writers. Deliver this award to eight bloggers who must choose eight more and include this cleverly-written text into the body of their award."

Being that I don't have tons and tons of blogger friends yet.... I'm going to award all three of these to the following special people. I think they are all sexy, have lovely blogs, and are awesome blogger friends!

Family first!

1. My mom... at TLC by Angie. She just started her very first blog where she is sharing all of her lovely talents with the blogging community. She makes some AWESOME stuff!

2. My cousin Paige at Live Well, Love Much, Laugh Often. She just got home from her honeymoon, and her blog is currently overflowing with really awesome wedding photos!!!!

Now on to the friends.

(even though they were the one's who awarded these to me... I'm throwing them back at 'em, plus some)

5. Nicole-Lynn at Seaside Smitten. I know she checks my blog regularly because she leaves great comments quite often. I love checking in to her blog. She has great taste, and great finds!

6. Ramblings and What Not who also has the blog P90X Lovebirds . I love checking in on both of these, but particularly P90x Lovebirds. It's the story of her and her boyfriends journey on the P90x workout plan and diet. I admire them, and am anxious to see how it works out for them. Keep up the good work guys!

7. Lindsay at One Day at a Time. Love her randomness and obsession with her iPhone. I don't have one, so I can't relate, but I still find it comical.

8. Lindsay at Belle Cene'. Another blog of randomness plus her etsy shop items! We also share a love of country music apparenty.
