I've been shot!

I had to get the flu shot today :(

Ok, I didn't really have to. Nobody dragged me to Walgreens and tied me down to the chair.... but I kindda had to! One of the facilities where we do our clinical rotations is requiring all students to have the Flu Shot or wear a mask when on the floor. Yeah, I'm not wearin' a nasty, stinky, sweaty mask on my face ALL DAY LONG. Especially since I'll be working in OB. Wouldn't you look at me funny if I was holding your baby and wearing a mask? I thought so....

I've never had one before, and never had any intention of getting it. Hopefully it doesn't MAKE me sick. I won't be a happy camper. BUT, I thought ahead and got it today so that if I do get sick, it shouldn't interfere with anything we have going on this month... Like Jessica's wedding in less than 2 weeks! :)

Mutt Monday!

I haven't had a Mutt Monday in what seems like forever. Soooo, since I didn't really do anything exciting this weekend (except spend too much money at Target and Bed, Bath, and Beyond) I figured I might as well! We haven't done anything out of the ordinary with Miss Zoey lately, but in looking through my pictures of her, I came across this one, and it is just too beautiful not to share! Isn't she a pretty girl?

We were gonna go out in the boat yesterday, but weather didn't permit.... Maybe this weekend. :-/

Oh, and I did spend some time at my new neighbor/in real life bloggy friend Jess's house watching the boys play some beer pong and baseball. Have ya'll ever heard of baseball? It's weird. And complicated. And requires coordination. What kind of drinking game requires coordination!?!?!? Not one I'll play, that's for sure! I also should mention that they are doing a GREAT job renovating their house. It's a lot of hard work, I know this first hand.... But keep up the good work Jess! It'll all be worth it in the end when you can sit back, relax, and enjoy it :)

And now... I'm off to spend my day off of school studying the Cardiovascular system. I just might have had the boyfriend wake me up early before he left for work so that I could get an early start on being productive and then goofed off, read blogs, bought more stuff at BBB online, and watched Regis and Kelly.
Nah.... Not me!

It's the thought that counts...

A few years ago, some of my wonderful family came down here from Kentucky and went with us crazy people from Florida to a Kenny Chesney concert. We had THE BEST time! We all piled into a limo and cruised on up to West Palm Beach where we saw Gary Allen, Sugarland, and of course, Kenny! (Just for the record, I LOVE me some Kenny!). I was pretty excited when I heard that Sugarland was going to be down here in S. Florida this week and I REALLY wanted to go. They were so amazing when we saw them in West Palm. Jennifer Nettles is jam packed with energy and they put on an awesome show!!! However, being a non-working, full time student, un-wife housewife with a serious case of "Fundsalow", I didn't push the issue with the boyfriend. (or splurge and buy tickets for myself as much as I was tempted) So last night was the concert, and all day long they have had on radio how AWESOME it was. I'm a little jealous. Okay, so a lot jealous. But I am reminded of a silly conversation I had last night with the boyfriend that makes me smile. Last night, I was sitting on the couch and happened to mention to Ed that I was bummed that we weren't going to Sugarland. You know what he said? "That was tonight, huh? Actually, it's a funny thing honey... I was going to buy us tickets to go and surprise you when I found out they were coming.... and I even had it all looked up online, but the service charge at Ticketmaster was outrageous. I figured I would just stop by FYE one day and pick them up and save the charge. But then I forgot. Sorry. I was gonna!!!!" Now of course I had to laugh at this, and still feel totally touched at the same time. It was such a sweet thought! He really NEVER thinks to do things like that. It's a shame he forgot to follow through with it. So, instead of an A for effort, he gets an A-. He still gets an A though! It's the thought that counts!!! Too cute!!!!! I can't be too upset though. I happen to know that a trip to the Keys to a REALLY NICE resort (instead of my grandparents house) is in the works. It'll be nice to go out to eat and have housekeeping instead of doing the cooking and cleaning at the house. Keep your fingers crossed that it works out. I'll keep you posted ;-)

The Big Reveal!

FINALLY! I had to time to clean my bathroom today, and I can post pictures without being totally embarrassed! lol. I have to say, for the time it took for this "little" project to be completed, I'm a tiny bit disappointed. It doesn't have the "wow" effect that I thought it would have on me. Maybe it's just because it looks exactly like I thought it would. (We've only had the parts to do it in the garage for like A YEAR now..... )

In any case, it's still a HUGE improvement from what it was, and...
I like it.
(ignore the open outlets... Ed needs to replace them still)
LOVE my double towel bar :)

I think the window needs a valance or something, it's plain. And I'd like to get a small basket or something for the back of the toilet. What do ya'll think? Any ideas for the window? It's so blah!

Did anyone else notice that it was like a potty party in the blog world over the weekend? Two other bloggers I follow worked on their bathrooms last weekend. And... I feel like I had seen another 1 somewhere, but I can't seem to find it now to link you. Anyway. Everyones came out GREAT! Check them out!

Overload...

(r/t = related to..... AEB= as evidenced by)

Ahhh! I'm so behind on EVERYTHING and currently experiencing a severe case of OVERLOAD! There are so many things I want/need to do, and I can't because I need to study. My house is a disaster. Our "weekend" bathroom project is just now in it's final stages, and it consumed the whole house! The dust, and the parts, and the tools, are EVERYWHERE! Clutter stresses me out. I have a bad habit of not putting away clean clothes right away, but lately, I haven't been able to get to the closet, and I've been busy with (of course) studying. Clean clothes are consuming my bedroom floor. I guess it's better than dirty clothes! I am super behind on my regular email updates to my awesome cousin in Kentucky. I wanna hear about all little details of the cuteness of her new puppy, married life, and her niece that she doesn't put on her blog. I miss my friends. My friend Jess just bought a house right down the street. She is there almost every day working on it, and I've only been to see her three times. I wanna go help! and hangout! My friend Jenn just got a house too, and I haven't even been there to see it since she moved in a few weeks ago! Thankfully, she's having a housewarming party this weekend so I'll be making the time to go and see, and meet her new puppy!!!!!!! Another friend of mine is feeling the breakup blues and I haven't been around enough for her. It also might be nice to have some relaxing time with the boyfriend, other than working on the house and eating dinner together! I got a little behind with school, and my grades dropped below what I am happy with, so I'm trying to crack down and bring them up. Therefore, I have had to make some sacrifices. Okay, a lot of sacrifices. On top of it all, I've been sacrificing sleep. I miss my sleep! I'm hoping this will all resolve itself and settle down soon. I crave a normal life. I want to know what's it's like to go to work, come home, and be able to do what I want without having to worry about studying, or preparing for the following day. I want to be able to pick up a book and read for leisure without feeling guilty.... and I wanna go to bed early without feeling like I missed out on precious hours. I've NEVER had this. I've been in school my WHOLE life. Ugh. Enough already!!! Hurry up March!!!!! I'll even settle for December. Christmas break will be nice. Unless of course my teacher assigns us stuff to do to "prep" for the new term. Which, she probably will. I know it will all be worth it in the long run, it's just been a loooooooooong run for me, and I'm tired! I don't see the light at the end of the tunnel right now and I'm overwhelmed. I need to get back on a good schedule, get on top of homework and house chores, and find a happy medium. But, right now, I need to go study because I have a big test on Tuesday. (and so... the vicious cycle repeats!)

More Changes!

This weekend, Ed had the opportunity to have 3 full days free of work of any kind, so we are tackling another house project! (no, the porch isn't quite done yet, but we might as well have like 3 things going at once! Actually, he's planning on finishing up the screen work while we are waiting for stuff to dry...)

Our house is nicknamed "The Money Pit", and for good reason! We are always working on something, and the more we do, the lower our bank account gets! Oh well, such is the life of a homeowner I guess. I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world! I love my home :)

When we moved in, this is what our master bathroom looked like... and it stayed that way for a while. (minus the phone, don't ask... we don't know... and the Orca's and ceiling fan)

The tile isn't my favorite in the whole wide world, but it's decent, and fairly new. Everything else, HAD TO GO!

And "go", it did!

Our bathroom pretty much looks like this now. Our new stuff has been patiently waiting in the garage for about a year now. I'm pretty that sure this weekend it'll be able to make it's big debut! I hope so anyway, walking across the house to the guest bath to pee first thing in the morning isn't so much fun!

Oh no! Not the green stuff!

I have been meaning to post this for a while now. I've made this meal twice, and both times it was a hit. The first time I made it I sent the leftovers to my mom's house, where my step-dad post-poned eating it for as long as possible because of the "green stuff" in it. He's not a fan of veggies, especially - SPINACH! Although.... once he tried it, he changed his mind about it (at least that's what my mom told me). So, don't be afraid... even if you don't like spinach, give it a try! You can barely taste it, I promise! Or, if you are a chicken (pun TOTALLY intended) leave it out! It's a crock-pot sensation that warms you from the inside out. I personally think it has a real "comfort food" effect. Oh, and I have to give credit where credit is due. I originally obtained this recipe HERE and then modified it a bit :)

And now... without further rambling.... Creamy Ranch Chicken and Spinach!

I used 2 chicken breasts because it's plenty for us, but you can probably add more chicken to it to stretch it and feed more people. I can feed us twice with 2, but the original recipe calls for 4-6.

Stick them babies in the crock pot on low with a packet of Ranch dressing mix, 1/2 cup of water, some salt and pepper if you want, and maybe some chopped garlic if you desire. Let them cook for about 4 hours or until they fall apart easily.

In a separate bowl combine 1 softened brick of cream cheese with a can of cream of chicken soup, a cup of milk and whatever spices you desire, if any. I throw in some more salt and pepper, and some garlic salt. Blend it until smooth. Then I add the green stuff :) I microwave a package of frozen chopped spinach, drain it, and then add about 3/4 of it to the mixture.

When your chicken has been shredded, add the cream mixture, stir it in, and turn the heat up on the crock pot until it's heated all the way through.

I serve this over brown rice, usually with the leftover spinach. ENJOY!!!
